"Anvil! The Story of Anvil" has scored another award. The rock film captured the nod for Best Documentary at the Independent Spirit Award. The film's director Sacha Gervasi accepted the trophy for his work on the film, which chronicles the Canadian rockers' struggles decades into their career as a group. Gervasi said, quote, "When I was 15 years old, this band took me out on the road and they showed me a lot of things, some of which I can't discuss on live television." Anvil was also on hand for the ceremony. The group performed twice during the live broadcast, which aired on cable's IFC network.
It's not the first honor for "Anvil! The Story of Anvil." The film also won the Best Documentary at the Austin Film Critics Awards, and captured Best International Documentary at the Calgary International Film Festival.
