Palin: My Family Used To Go To Canada For Healthcare

(Calgary, Canada) -- Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin admits her family used to go to Canada for their healthcare. In a speech last week in Calgary, the former Republican vice presidential nominee made the admission and said it's, quote, "kind of ironic now" that her family would make the trip given Republican backlash against healthcare reform efforts in the U.S. The "Calgary Herald" reports Canada's national healthcare system was put into place in 1966, two years after Palin's family moved to Alaska from Idaho. In her speech, Palin noted her brother was treated in Canada after burning his ankle, but the "Herald" reports she gave a different version of that story in 2007, in which she said the family had to go to Juneau on a ferry for treatment of her brother's burn.
