Smashing Pumpkins Seeking New Bassist, Keyboardist
Billy Corgan is restocking The Smashing Pumpkins after the recent departure of bassist Ginger Pooley. The musician has left the group to raise her new child with her husband, so Corgan is opening the audition process to find her replacement. Billy says, quote, "Although I am heartbroken that Ginger is leaving the group, I really respect her decision to put family first. I appreciate everything that she has contributed to The Smashing Pumpkins, and I'm proud of her for being such a great musician and friend." In addition to seeking a bass player, Corgan is also looking to add a keyboard player. He says he wants someone who, quote, "is a fan of -- and can play in the prog-rock style of -- Jon Lord and Rick Wakeman." While Corgan looks for his new band members he has recruited Electric Prunes bassist Mark Tulin to sit in with the group.
Those interested in either position are asked to e-mail their information -- including their age and previous band experience as well as any photos or performance web links to pumpkinsbass@gmail.com or pumpkinskeys@gmail.com. Only musicians with video clips will be considered. The deadline for submissions is March 31st.
