Sheriff Joe Arpaio Talks About Possibly Helping Rapper DMX
(Phoenix, AZ) -- DMX is now in the hands of "America's Toughest Sheriff." The rapper was arrested Tuesday in Arizona for violating his probation by allegedly using illegal drugs. Sheriff Joe Arpaio told the Phoenix TV station ABC15.com that it's, quote, "about time to give him hard time." Arpaio may also put the rapper through a drug treatment program. He says, quote, "We do have a great drug prevention program in the jail, so if he stays in our jail system I will consider [letting] him go through our program." Arpaio's Maricopa County Jail is familiar territory for the rapper, who served over 90 days there last year for drug use, fraud, and animal cruelty charges. Making reference to VH1 "Celebrity Rehab" counselor Dr. Drew Pinsky, TMZ.com quoted DMX's lawyer Tuesday as saying, "We're hoping that Dr. Drew might be able to help" DMX as he battles addiction.
