Congressman Kennedy Loses Cool Over Lack Of Media Attention

(Washington, DC) -- Washington lawmakers enjoy the media spotlight and sometimes get upset when they don't think it's shining on them. That was the case for Congressman Patrick Kennedy of Rhode Island while trying to make a point on the House floor discussing a resolution on Afghanistan war funding. There were just three media representatives in the room.

The entire passionate rant lasted nearly a minute. Kennedy was gaveled to order after calling the national news media "despicable." Part of the reason few in the media were in the gallery is because House debates are now televised so reporters can monitor the floor from their desks. Kennedy is retiring from the House when his current term ends.
