Obama To Name Executives To Head Export Council

(Washington, DC) -- Trying to make good on a pledge he made during his State of the Union address to double U.S. exports over five years, President Obama today will tap two executives from Boeing and Xerox to lead the President's Export Council. Obama is expected to name Boeing President Jim McNerney and Xerox CEO Ursula Burns when he speaks to the Export-Import Bank's annual conference. Also, a new Export Promotion Cabinet will be formed with individuals from various governmental departments. Obama said during the State of the Union that two-million jobs could be created if exports were increased. Critics are skeptical about whether the increase in exports will actually produce the jobs the President has predicted. They also question Obama's reluctance to move forward with free trade agreements with Columbia, Panama and South Korea.
