(Springfield, IL) -- The beer wars are foaming over after Anheuser-Busch lost its bid to distribute its own beer in Illinois. That locks the giant brewer out of the lucrative Chicagoland market. Crain's "Chicago Business" reports that the giant brewer lost out to those with more political clout with the state's Liquor Control Commission. Anheuser-Busch owns a 30-percent stake in a local distributor called City Beverage. But the commission said it would revoke City Beverage's distribution license if Anheuser-Busch buys out the rest of the company. The brewer said in a statement, quote, "those lobbying against us were working to minimize competition." The case will likely end up in court.
