(New Orleans, LA) -- The man in charge of the federal government's response to the BP oil spill met with Louisiana's governor and local parish presidents to discuss their concerns more than 100 days after the Deepwater Horizon disaster started to unfold. Retired Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen said they discussed the long-term cleanup, hurricane response plans, and how they will transition the response. He says booming and skimming operations will soon be replaced with monitoring projects throughout the Gulf region. Allen said with the well now capped, it's getting harder to find oil floating on the surface of the water. The admiral also said there is every indication that the cap is holding and the current techniques being used to permanently kill the well will be effective.
