No Agreement Reached In Rangel Probe

(Washington, DC) -- Longtime New York Congressman Charlie Rangel says no deal has been reached that would allow him to avoid a trial by a House panel on alleged ethics violations. The House Ethics Committee has been investigating Rangel for nearly two-years. He is under scrutiny for seeking contributions for a school named in his honor, failing to pay taxes on a Dominican Republic villa, and owning four rent stabilized apartments in Harlem. Rangel isn't alone in his ethics problems. The House panel is expected to say as early as Monday that its investigative subcommittee has found evidence California Congresswoman Maxine Waters violated the chamber's ethics rules.
